Blowback
For the project Blowback, I revisited a period in my life that I had left undigested, suppressed for over a decade. After leafing through a few old snapshots, however, the names, faces, anecdotes, and tragedies all came tumbling back. The children who had kept me awake at night, anxious, suddenly sprang back to life and haunted me once again. I needed to know where they were and what they were doing. I needed to know that they had survived. These eight-year-olds had been the center of my universe, and not simply for the thirty hours a week when they sat in my classroom.
This work takes the form of a one hundred page book, which I have briefly excerpted here.
